Product Description

Digitally re-mastered two-fer containing a pair of albums one CD. Released towards the end of 1977, HEAR TO TEMPT YOU saw the quintet record for the first time in Philadelphia where the team of Norman Harris, Ron Baker and Earl Young masterminded the sessions, working with some of the top arrangers, songwriters and musicians responsible for the -popular 'Philly' sound. A US Top 40 R&B album, the LP spawned two charted singles, 'Think for Yourself' and 'In a Lifetime.' for their second and final album for Atlantic, The Temptations turned to two brothers who had also been part of the original Motown hit factory, Brian and Eddie Holland. A US Top 50 R&B album, BARE BACK contained eight tunes co-penned by the Hollands with members of the group contributing the song, 'I See My Child'; Atlantic released three singles from the album, two of which - the title track and 'Ever Ready Love' reached the US Top 50 R&B charts. Notes by renowned US writer Kevin Goins include quotes from both Glenn Leonard and Louis Price.

Two fabulous albums from the legendary group when they went on hiatus from Motown. These two Atlantic recordings showcase producing and writing talents of Philly artists Norman Harris and Ron Baker, and Motown alumni Brian and Eddie Holland of Holland-Dozier-Holland fame.If you're a true fan, the albums are great. If not, you may not like Louis Price's replacement of the great Dennis Edwards. I myself, preferredDennis, but think Louis' performances bring a lively and distinct new sound of it's own to this dynamic quintet. Of course there are also leadsby Richard Street and Glen Leonard. Not to mention notable cameos by founding members Otis Williams and bass profundo Melvin Franklin. So sit back. And hear to "Tempt" you.
