On the week of COVID, I spent most the time watching Jimmy Kimmel clips on Youtube. My apartment is surrounded by screamers. They scream at night and sometime in the morning. In the park the screamers sleep. And the Jimmy Kimmel is a very funny man. He has the kind of face that you just look it at it and you're already laughing or thinking, He's about to say something stupid isn't he, and then he does and you laugh. He looks dumb, but he is actually very smart, especially when he pranks kids and also people on the street who don't know how to locate the US on a map, and things like that, and Guillermo. My apartment building has security cameras all over. They see me in the hallways when I leave my bedroom to go to the shower with my towel wrapped around my fat body. I am fat and accepting of my extra weight. I am a Bear. I love my Bear body. I struggle so I spent the whole week of COVID super high in my bed eating Uber Eats take out and on Youtube watching Jimmy Kimmel, until I saw the clip of Doc and Marty in Jimmy Kimmel so I went to Amazon and got to watching the Back to the Future movies, and it was at this point that my head was separate from my brain, that was the phase of COVID during which I saw the Back to the Future saga for the first time in 18 years. 18 years ago I was just a child in the table of the world, achingly longing for adulthood, for a car, for life and living. I lived in Another Country. It is my distant past. I flee it and feel it and now here I was just a piece of sick body in San Francisco, surrounded by used UberEats bags, and, and fast food burger wrappers, and empty milkshake plastic cups, but I ate all of them, and I watched all three back to the future movies, and my only friends were actors on screen, Jimmy Kimmel on screen, unless you were the friend who visited me and brought me COVID tests or the friend who texted me to ask if I was okay and I could have said, "NO IM NOT OKAY BUT THIS TRILOGY WAS SO WELL WRITTEN, I LOVE HOW LIFE CHANGES FOR MARTY OVER THE COURSE OF A SINGLE DAY IN THREE MOVIES ACROSS FOUR AGES OF TIME," it taught me nothing about time travel, and everything about destiny. It taught me nothing about love but everything about the movies. It taught me that the best-written character in this movie is Biff. He is my favorite character because all of his actions have purpose. But the music is the best. It makes me feel like one day I will be a boy with an old man who lives across the street in a car and we will love each other.
