He shares his favorite off-the-beaten-path towns, trails, and natural wonders. With this guidebook, you'll experience the culture like a local, spend less money, and have more fun.
Bought "Rick Steves' Europe Through the Back Door 2013" for a trip to Europe last year and "Rick Steves' Europe Through the Back Door 2014" for a trip to Europe this year. I wouldn't think of leaving home without it! The recommendations for lodging, dining, transportation, sightseeing, etc. are spot on!...ok...there might be a couple of hiccups but they are so minor in comparison to the wealth of information that will be gleamed from reading and using his books! It will save you money, it will save you time, and it will save you from potential frustration! We even got a 10% discount on our hotel bill at "Hotel Continental" in Barcelona just by showing the desk clerk his book. BTW...if staying in Barcelona, I highly recommend staying at the "Hotel Continental" in a balcony room on the La Rambla! You can even save the cost of a taxi ride from the airport to the hotel. You just catch a public bus at the airport to "Placa de Catalunya"...the last stop...and walk about a block and a half to the hotel.
