As everyone that suddenly has knee problems I'm in search of anything that will prevent or prolong surgery. About two months ago now I was driving in my car and noticed for no apparent reason my knee was just aching me....over the next several days it just got progressively worse. One morning I woke up and basically that was it...I had severe sharp pain at first at the back of my knee that went on for roughly two weeks as I was using a massage gun thinking it was muscle related like cramping or possible a pinched nerve....I also used a Tens machine basically moving it to all parts of my leg and calf muscles...it did nothing.I went through the ritual of applying every cream ointment and spray to my knee that I could imagine...non of it did anything to give me more than an hours worth of the relief at best. I finally gave in and went to see an Orthopedic Doctor. She took an X ray and initially said my knee was in excellent shape but there was a thinning of the cartilage which would indicate arthritis has set in....that was her initial diagnosis and she gave me 75mg of diclofenac anti inflammatory to take twice a day and if there wasn't any change to come back and see her in two weeks. The first week it basically did nothing at all...halfway through the second week it started to work really good...but my pain shifted from the back of my knee to the front of the knee and hurting worse when the anti inflammatory would start to wear off.....I went back to her and she ordered an MRI....my MRI results came back and they showed that I had a torn Medial Meniscus coupled with bone edema (swelling/bruising) and a slightly (level 2) dislocated petellar tracking disorder all due to degenerative causes basic wear and tear due to age and repetitive motion causing stress on my knee over the last few decades.trying to avoid surgery and not have to live everyday in a brace that does help but I wanted more options.a friend suggested K-tape and I've heard of it but didn't think it was used in the capacity that it is....I watched videos on how to apply it and took a chance....worst case I'm out $20 ...I got two rolls today and taped my knee for the subluxation of my knee cap and it was instant relief of pain...I've been wearing the tape for about 6 hours and it feels the same as when I applied it. I know it's not a miracle but it might can greatly reduce the pain and pressure of my knee cap being out of place and pressing against my medial meniscus enough for me to get my quads strong enough to get added support for my knee and make the appropriate life style changes to get the pressure off of my knee and in the process maybe fix my dislocated knee cap mange the pain and see where I stand a few months from now.The tape works as its intended to work...its very adhesive and doesn't come off or roll up...and its important that you don't stretch either end of the tape and have all the stretch in the middle part of the tape...if you apply it incorrectly it's not going to work at all....it must be done very specifically.I wouldn't wear the tape longer than 2-3 days and get it off wait a day in between and re apply it. I shaved my kneecap but other parts of the tape are sticking to hair...so I know its not gonna be easy to take off but they say you can use baby oil or hair conditioner and just apply it and wait 2-3 minutes before you start rolling it off.I wish everyone has a great outcome with this tape, as pain sucks but this is helping it with the addition to anti inflammatory meds.....
