Product Description

Product Description Vocal Jazz. The selection of tunes on this CD ranges from the 1920's ("42nd Street", "Broadway") to Pat Metheny's "Beat 70". Styles include Brazilian ("Milagre", "Like A Lover"), straight-ahead bebop ("Harold's House of Jazz"), and sophisticated Strayhorn-like arrangements ("I Just Got Back In Town"). Review "'Like Buttah' as my grandma used to say; nice arrangements, superbly cohesive group within this VERY difficult idiom." -- Alisa Clancy, KCSM-FM"This is a marvelous debut. The arrangements delight the auditory nerve and the rhythm section is 1st class. All parties converge on the same goal: The Song." -- Rebecca Parris About the Artist Sharp 9 is compsed of singers Leanna Kor, Susan Woita, Richard Berlin and Ed Johnson (who also plays guitar) accompanied by Walter Bankovitch on piano and Preston Carter on bass. This CD is really, really great! When I say awesome, I mean I am literally IN AWE of the musicianship. The playing and singing are WAY up there in the stratosphere occupied by such musicians as Pat Metheny. In fact, they do a Pat Metheny song called Beat 70 that just blew me away.If you're at all a fan of great vocal arrangements over hot, hot, hot jazz, buy this CD. This is an indie release -- you'll have trouble finding it anywhere else, so buy now.
