Two guys, two guitars, two voices; and a love for the songs of our youth. We aim for an authentic sound that takes the best we each can bring and creates something better than either of us alone. We find in each song a challenge to recreate it's essence in our own style. Our fans wanted something to take home with them so we went through our song list to select a solid set of tunes, all memorable but not overplayed, to assemble on this CD. Along the way we wrote an original tune 'Back In The Day', which we think ties the album together. We are also keen on performing live knowing that each time we play a song, it is unique for that audience. This is not a refined album where every note is played again and again until the recording is perfect. While not rough, this is more of a performance album for which songs were recorded in one or two takes. We played like you were there with us, and we feel the CD is better as a result. Whether you are alone or kicking back with the people you love, we hope you enjoy our interpretation of the songs that defined our world, Back In The Day. Artist bios The guys are Paul Grubb and Bruce MacKenzie. While they occasionally trade off, Double Bogie is a fine blend of Paul's lead vocals and rhythm guitar and Bruce's harmonies and lead guitar. Paul has always been a singer, with a versatile voice that can be soft and subtle for one song and loud and raucous the next. He started accompanying himself on the guitar while in the Navy and developed a strong rhythm style. It's Paul's backbeat that anchors the songs. Bruce first picked up a guitar shortly after the Beatles first appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show, and he hardly ever put it down. He'd play hours a day to teach himself chord changes and an intricate finger-picking style. It wasn't until college that he started to publicly sing as well as play. He loves to sing vocal harmonies but considers himself a guitarist at heart. Double Bogie has performed around Austin from small clubs, to neighborhood parties, to medium sized outdoor amphitheater settings. You'll find our music is fun and family friendly.
