Stay warm longer! I know enough not to give it more time - had product before; kinda stupid - last one I added time on micro and it sorta explodedI bought this for my girlfriend who suffers from headaches that radiate to her neck. She likes the weight of it, but the first time we heated it in the microwave it started to smell terrible. The smell gets better as it cools, and isn't bad if you drape a blanket over it. I don't think it's entirely the manufacturer's fault-- part of the smell definitely comes from odors already in the microwave. But the microwave itself doesn't smell bad, just faintly of popcorn, so there's also something going on with this wrap. Like other reviewers said, even though we got the unscented (the last thing someone with headaches wants is to be bothered by perfume), this was still lightly scented (pre-microwaving).This shoulder works works quite well. It took more than two minutes to heat up in my microwave oven. I would have liked it to be a little bit longer so that one could clasp it together or better yet have Velcro tabs so that one could have it on stay on shoulders and move around and not have to hold it. The lavender smell is faintThe only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because of the smell. It has a STRONG lavender scent which I like, but the white cotton side of the pad has a “rubbery” smell to it. So when you mix a strong lavender and rubber, it’s not good. The pad stays warm for a long time, it’s mostly comfortable. I you are sitting up against a chair, it is somewhat uncomfortable, but not bad. I had wondered because of the photo description if I would have to hold it in place, but it lays nicely on my shoulders. I am 5′, 103 lbs, fits nicely.I bought this specifically for my neck. I’m at college and I needed something that was portable, wireless, and easy. This works PERFECTLY. I love the fact that it’s unscented (however, the smell of rice is dominant after 2 minutes in the microwave) because my neck pain usually mates well with headaches. Putting oils (I use Young Living’s “Deep Relief”, Lavendar, “RC”, and Peppermint) makes this the perfect relaxant.This has helped my neck pain tremendously if used regularly or when I need it most.For you period go-ers: I find the top part (supposed to wrap around the neck) is perfect for cramps and then the two side pieces pointing down towards toes relieves pressure from the uterus.This won’t cure anything, but it sure makes those cricks and cramps easier to manage.This was good while it lasted. The lavender scent was overpowered by whatever seed was on the inside. It only lasted about 10 uses before it burned a hole through. I've found cheaper and more durable ones at Marshalls.I have arthritis in my neck and shoulders and this is the perfect time to have for those rainy days. You know how you start that aching when the weather changes, well I use this for those days when I have things to do and not just set in the chair with a heating pad on my neck and shoulders. I put it in the microwave for 2 minutes put it around my neck and shoulders and I am good to go. I vacuum and clean the house with this on.I had a very stiff neck so I used it on that twice. 75 seconds heat time per the directions and it lasted for several hours. It is a strong lavender smell which is one of the reasons I ordered it. It is quite weighty so it will not fall off your shoulders if you walk around with it on. You can pull up the back so it covers the back of your neck. The only thing I would like is the ability to somehow lightly dampen it for a moist heat. Otherwise it's perfect!The concept behind the product is great so I bought it to replace a simpler version of a microwaveable heat pad.This particular product has two issues:- it's not very wide, so it doesn't cover enough of the shoulders- it's too heavy on the back, so it falls off unless you lean forward to "balance" it or otherwise fasten it to prevent it falling down the backIt's a shame really becauase the product seemed well made and comfortable but because of the mentioned issues, unfortunately it wasn't fit for purpose in my case. Also, the microwaveable heat pads are great - I've used them for many years.I've followed the directions about how long to heat this for, but it wasn't enough. I have had to heat it repeatedly to get any warmth in it. From reading other reviews, I have added a bit of water in the microwave to ensure that it doesn't overheat and burn.I don't love the style of this one, it has a collar that comes up around the back of your neck but I would rather have the extra material in the length and have it come down further around the front of my shoulders. It feels a bit short, as if it's balancing on top of my shoulders.This product was soft and fleecy and footed well the only reason I returned it was because it was for my 94 yr old Nan. It was far too heavy even to try on for fit. It may not be as heavy when warmed up. I didn’t warm it up because I had already made the decision that it wasn’t suitable for our use.I have quite a demanding job and after work I look forward to using my shoulder and neck heat pad to ease away the stress. Quick to heat up and a good size to cover my shoulders.This worked well when my husband had a very stiff neck and was easy to best in the microwave
